When you look out your back window at your yard what do you see? If your answer isn’t ‘endless possibilities,’ you might be in need of some tips on how to spruce it up!
Your backyard can be one of the best places to spend a warm, summer night. From BBQ’s to board games, to bonfires, there are so many different things you can do without leaving the comfort of your home (and those are just the B’s!).
Below is a list of ways to turn your backyard into a summer oasis you’ll want to take advantage of every night.
Build a Bonfire
Whether you love sitting around telling ghost stories, enjoying a cool summer breeze in front of a warm fire, or over-indulging in s’ mores, a backyard fire pit can be a great addition that will help you change how you enjoy your yard, and spend time with your family and friends.
However, if you’ve been meaning to put in a firepit, but hesitant to do so because of the perceived costs, you don’t have to worry. You can buy a premade one for relatively cheap—or even make your own in as little as 30 minutes!
Put in a Garden
Do you love fresh vegetables? Are you finding yourself dissatisfied with the produce at your local supermarket? There’s a simple fix that can ensure your produce is always fresh and free of pesticides and other chemicals—growing them yourself!
If you’ve considered starting your own garden but chose not to due to the perception that it is too hard think again! It’s as simple as getting some nutrient-rich soil and a few seeds. From there, you can start growing your own broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beans, tomatoes, carrots, beets, and even potatoes—pretty soon all the vegetables on your plate will ones you grew yourself!
Put in a Dining Space
Why stop at growing your food in your backyard, when you can also enjoy eating it in the yard? Putting in a dining area can be a great way to ensure you’ll have enough space for when you want to have guests over, and it will allow you to enjoy the summer weather while enjoying a nice meal.
Best of all, it doesn’t have to be difficult! Whether you want to add a deck, or simply put down some interlocking tiles and patio furniture, you can have a backyard dining space setup in just a day or two.
Set Up a Games Area
Do you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors while also keeping yourself and your family or guests entertained? Why not do both and set up a game station! Whether it’s badminton, bean bag toss, bocce, cornhole, or even shuffleboard.
Most outdoor games require little to no setup—for many of them you simply have to buy the game itself—and you can play most of them anywhere you have some space.
Adding a games area can be a great addition to a family get-together, or evening with close friends.
